Research lab technician in food technology (32-40 hours)

We are looking for a research lab technician with a passion for food. At NIZO we carry out contract research and development on diverse topics in food science, from product and process development, production, and characterization, to testing for health benefits. Our research lab technicians are the core team that support a wide variety of food science projects in the lab.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Supporting diverse projects in food science, including making food product prototypes, ingredient characterization, and carrying out analytical diagnostics.
  • Contributes to research plans with new ideas and interpretation of results using your food experience
  • Working flexibly with different project teams at NIZO to support various customers
  • Willing to learn new techniques for making food using e.g. a thermomixer, a homogenizer, or an ice cream machine and to operate various analytical instruments such as a rheometer, a mastersizer, a texture analyzer, and an HPLC.

We are looking for:

  • Applied science training (Dutch MBO/HBO level)
  • Ideally with experience in product development, product technology or food analytics but we are willing to train
  • Team player: you will be our specialist in product technology but will support the diverse NIZO team across multiple projects in food and health.
  • You have affinity with food and cooking
  • You are a creative person who is curious to discover opportunities beyond your comfort zone
  • You have the ambition to excel in practical lab work
